About

Hi!  My name is Tracy, and I am passionate about cooking and eating simple delicious foods based on the principles of macrobiotics.  I eat a mostly plant-based diet, but macrobiotic diets can include some better quality animal foods.  I may eat a mostly vegan diet, but have veered away from the vegan label.  I prefer to not be boxed into the unrealistic expectations I’ve seen many vegans promote.  Everyone has to choose what is best for his or her self.  Instead, I promote a way of eating and living based on the macrobiotic principles of yin and yang, and the Laws of Change.

One of the origins of the word ‘diet’ comes from Latin, ‘diaeta’ to mean “a prescribed way of life, and from the Greek ‘diaita’ to mean, “way of life, regimen, dwelling.”  Macrobiotics teaches how to live in harmony with the order of the Universe, including eating natural foods, for the greatest health, happiness, and personal freedom.

My husband Don and I have written a series of books explaining the origins of macrobiotics, and how to easily implement, continually adjust and adapt, and sustain for life.  Once you understand the principles, everything makes much more sense.  The macrobiotic principles are like a MAP which can guide your decisions and actions in not just your dietary choices, but in all aspects of your life.

I’m also very fond of birds, trees, and the thought of living a more rustic, natural life.  I dream of finding our ‘piece of land’ where I can finally feel like I have my own little nest to create a simple but comfy and inviting homestead.

My husband and I are writers.  We enjoy doing calisthenics, interval training, yoga, and walking barefoot outdoors.  We also currently own an affordable acupuncture clinic.  I have a masters in oriental medicine.  I did extra training in Chinese food therapy, plant-based nutrition, and am now a certified yoga teacher and macrobiotic counselor.  I also do energy healing, and guided therapeutic meditations for clients as a hypnotherapist and C.O.R.E. Counselor.

I’ve spent a small fortune on healing myself, and have learned that there are no magic cures or quick fixes.  I’ve helped many others overcome the emotional and mental impediments to self-sufficiency and self-reliance, and  I hope to share what I’ve learned along the way.

May the force of nature revive in you a renaissance of simple and harmonious living, along with a re-membering of your ancient roots.  Healthy people make healthy children, and healthy families create healthy communities.  Healthy communities lead to strong nations, supportive of people thriving and living their true, ideal human qualities.

That’s the renaissance we need right now!

The Earth Girl (EG) Diet, or Earth Girl Rx is a prescription for living based on simplicity.  , and is designed to be flexible, adaptable and sustainable, rather than a rigid set of parameters that ultimately end up being the downfall of maintaining the diet.  This isn’t about restriction, it is about expansion.  Which brings me to the other reason I am writing this blog.

I’ve been on a quest for freedom, true personal sovereignty in my life.  I mean living with as much ease, flexibility and strength in my body, peace in my mind and heart, and financial freedom and generosity  as possible, while aligning with my divine calling and sense of purpose.  My plan is to stop nothing short of creating a magnificent, joy-filled, purpose-full life.  It’s been quite a journey so far.  This blog commences at what seems like the middle rather than the beginning, however, I believe the greatest transformation is just beginning to unfold.

My inner Earth Girl helps me to slow down, and connect with the earth.  That connection has always provided a needed balm, and place where I can feel most alive, and most genuine.  I feel my connection with nature and the natural world helps me re-member Who I Really Am, reminds me that I’m not alone, and awakens my true power.  It’s time now to apply all I have learned and experienced to take our lives to the next level.

My hunch is that others are looking for some guiding principles to help them orient their own life.  Or, perhaps trying to either lose weight or feel better, physically and emotionally, and live with greater balance, harmony, and peace.

The particular brand of macrobiotics my husband and I are currently eating is similar to the Shaolin monks.  The Shaolin monks are some of the healthiest, and most physically, mentally, and spiritually balanced people on the planet.  We eat our version of a temple diet, because it works and it’s simple.

We also practice yoga and calisthenics as a means to unwinding from a lot of past injuries and issues that led to postural misalignments, and to get into our best shape ever, despite being in our 50’s.  We would like to master the handstand and a couple of other things as well!

I will be sharing simple, balanced and healthy vegan Shaolin style macrobiotic recipes, product reviews, fitness and  lifestyle tips,  and spiritual insights I have learned through my own process of transformation and personal growth.
